What is stop-motion animation? A stop-motion animation is basically when one takes a photograph of something and they change that subject they are photographing in a very small way. Then, they take another picture and they change it to take another picture. Manually, the picture is changed and another picture is taken, and so on. Each time they are taking a picture, they are making sure to take their hand that is manipulating the subject out of the picture. Finally, when the series of pictures are played back-to-back through like flipbook, one would see the subject move naturally. The subjects were never really moving; the maker was moving it with their hand but playing back through the pictures where no hand is there, the subject seems to take on a life of its own. One can apply stop-motion animation to so many different things; one can move found objects and can animate with paint with cut out paper or with clay. One can animate with live people too; that's called pixilation....
